Whats the difference between the different models of the Altec 511 horn as B and E ?
Which model would sound best for a home audio hifi set up?
No difference between the 511A & B the 511E is covered with Aquaplas and is for a large format driver like the 288... I can't tell no difference between the A&B variants. The A's could be green or gray.And the B's are usually black and the E's are gray in color..
511A is for PA use, it does not have mounting holes drilled in the flange like the B does... The E has the throat cut and a new flange welded on for 1.4 inch drivers.

i would add that original 511A's came with a proprietary mounting bracket. I think the bracket became optional later on.
The bracket was for mounting up high like to a ceiling..
